Breath Cycles Day and Night is a long-form, site-specific performance event of improvisation-based musical and performative works written and performed by Ptilia Ensemble in collaboration with performance initiatives by other local artists. The content of the works focus on deep listening practices established by American composer Pauline Oliveros, in which we intently study the sounds of the locale both within and outside Beit Hagefen and use those impressions as material for site-specific works which we create for the space. Joining Ensemble Ptilia (Dani Williamson, Ilan Barkani, Maya Pennington, Bar Eran, and Laila Mazal Yennishen) are local guest artists Avigail Sfez, Dorin Amitzur, Maayan Tsadka, and Yael Sady. Together we drift between the many corners and spaces within the Beit Hagefen gallery to perform a stream-of-consciousness event whose sounds and movements will take place throughout different rooms within the gallery.
